According to a Thursday release from the U.S. Department of Justice, DeMattos and the other officers held an inmate down on the ground. While the inmate was pinned, the officers “punched, kneed, and kicked the inmate in the face, head, and body dozens of times.” The inmate offered no resistance during a majority of the assault. DeMattos said during his plea hearing that such excessive force was unwarranted. A warrant was issued seeking William Moses “Willie” Hooker Jr.’s arrest after Wright was shot multiple times in a domestic dispute in Concord. Sean Fiore, 37, of Burlington was initially arrested in May 2019 but pleaded guilty on October 14 to murder-for-hire, conspiracy to kidnap or murder a person in a foreign country, conspiracy to produce child pornography and possession of child pornography, according to court documents. Fiore was just about to graduate with a degree as a nurse practitioner when he was arrested. York County Sheriff’s Office said Adams, who played 78 games for six different teams during six seasons in the NFL, shot dead three adults and two children in Rock Hill, South Carolina, before killing himself.
