A video of the child belting out “Let It Go” from Frozen while wearing headphones—apparently not realizing how loud she was—has been watched more than 1.7 million times since it was posted on TikTok on August 25.
The clip, shared by the girl’s aunt, has received 228,000 likes but not everyone thought it was adorable, especially given the cost of business class seats.
Although negative comments appear to have been scrubbed from the post, some that remain refer to other TikTokers’ grouchy responses.
One user wrote: “The comments!!! She’s a little kid enjoying life! She’s not moaning or misbehaving, she’s loving it!”
Another posted: “Everyone here complaining about the girl’s ‘manners’ while I’m just petty, my 30-year-old self is too poor and has to fly economy.”
In follow-up comments, the girl’s aunt, who uses the handle @shrees_marathon_journey, said the singing had lasted only “a minute or something.”
She explained that the clip had been filmed before take-off but the seatbelt sign was on, so the girl’s mother could not intervene immediately. The aunt added: “Her mum told her to stop singing as soon as she was allowed to get up from her own seat.”
The 6-year-old “was quiet throughout the flight” and “didn’t disturb anyone once the flight took off,” she said.
Traveling with a young child is not easy whichever cabin class you’re in. The Today’s Parent website has shared some top tips for flying with kids. They include:
Bring snacks to avoid a hungry tantrum when the plane runs out of child-friendly foodBe prepared for noise complaints from your children about their ears popping. Tell them to try the yawning trickBring plenty of your own entertainment options, such as coloring and sticker books, gaming devices and stuffed animals. “Don’t be the person who asks the flight attendant for a pencil and a cocktail napkin out of desperation"If both parents are traveling, book a “sanity” seat that is far away from the family group so you can take it in turns to have a moment’s peace and a bite to eatTake advantage of early boarding to ensure car seats and other luggage fit in the overhead compartments
Other TikTok commenters were unfazed by the young girl’s singing, saying they would have joined in if they’d been on the plane, and it was preferable to a child crying or screaming. One posted: “I’m a noise grump but that’s adorable.”
Another said the Disney song was far better than the “business class entertainment” she had encountered, which was “drunken buffoons.”
