NLDS - San Francisco Giants (88-74) vs. Washington Nationals (96-66)

Series Price: Giants -160/+140 (Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook)Season Series: Nationals won 5-2NL Pennant odds: Nationals 3-to-1, Giants 5-to-2World Series odds: Nationals 6-to-1, Giants 11-to-2

Game 2 Linemakers lean: We can’t suggest laying a large price like -210 with the Nationals, but we certainly don’t like Tim Hudson in this situation. The Giants lost Hudson’s last five starts – Hudson allowed five or more runs in three of those five. However, Hudson did beat the Nationals in both his 2014 starts against them, allowing only three runs over 12.1 innings. On the other side, Jordan Zimmermann has gone 8-0 with a 1.81 ERA over his last 11 starts and beat the Giants in his only start against them, allowing two runs over eight innings on Aug. 23. Zimmermann is too strong right now to go against.

Game 1, Friday: Giants 3-2. Jake Peavy (7-13, 3.73 ERA) vs. Stephen Strasburg (1-4-11, 3.14) -175, 6.5 UN -115Game 2, Saturday: Tim Hudson (9-13, 3.57) vs. Jordan Zimmermann (14-5, 2.66) -210, 7 OV -115Game 3, Monday: Doug Fister (16-6, 2.41) vs. Madison Bumgarner (18-10, 2.98)

Giants/Nationals Trends * The Giants were 17-14 this season behind Hudson for a return of +2.2 units. * The Nationals were 23-9 this season behind Zimmermann for a return of +11.4 units. * Six of the seven regular season meetings between WAS and SF went OVER the total. * Giants are 60-44 against right-handed starters in 2014 for +12.3 units of profit. * Nationals were 5-1 as home favorite between -200 to -225 this season for +2.8 units.

Early Linemakers series lean: Despite liking the Giants to steal Game 1, we still think the class of the Nationals’ rotation will be enough to outlast the Giants over the long haul.
