Giants Vs. Lions Props Teaching Old Dogs New Tricks

To be fair, we can’t call Matthew Stafford an “old dog”, but much has been made of his relative struggles since his monster 2011. The organization addressed these struggles via the coaching staff, bringing in several guys tasked with getting their franchise QB back on track. One of those additions is new offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, who comes over from the Saints, a team that knows a thing or two about offense. For all of the hand-wringing, Stafford still went OVER 277.5 passing yards – Monday’s number on the SuperBook’s props board – eight times in 2013.

Manning and the Giants were miserable offensively in 2013, and they’ve tabbed Ben McAdoo, former QB coach of the Green Bay Packers, to turn things around as the new OC. The first step will be fixing their own QB, Eli Manning, who declined for the second year in a row. He’s on the LVH board at 22.5 completions. Over the last four years, Manning has completed 60.3 percent of his passes. If he completes passes at that same rate – perhaps a generous expectation based on what we’ve seen the last two seasons – he’ll need to rack up about 38 attempts to reach the OVER. A lot has changed since these two teams played in Week 16 last season, but the Giants won 23-20 in overtime. Stafford only passed for 222 yards and failed to find the end zone. Manning finished 23 of 42 with one touchdown pass.
