“Something will come out on that shortly,” Coughlin said on NFL Network. “Those things are important to all of us — I’m not going to downplay that — but I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about that stuff.”

The Giants have not been to the playoffs since 2011 but Coughlin also hasn’t had a fully healthy trio of Odell Beckham Jr., Victor Cruz and Eli Manning at his disposal.

Coughlin has been a model of consistency at the helm of the Giants since taking over for Jim Fassel in 2004. It will be the third one-year contract extension Coughlin has signed with the team.

The 68-year-old will be entering his 20th season as an NFL head coach. He’s 96-80 in 11 seasons with the Giants.
