Clinton also took time out from crafting his major speech on race relations to play White House host to PGA stars Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman (his first meeting with Norma since Clinton slipped and tore the tendon in his knee at ‘The Sharks’’ Florida home in March) and Tiger Woods’ teacher, Butch Harmon. To top it off, daughter Chelsea even promised her dad a trip to the open for Father’s Day.
The Clintons recently decided to extend their August vacation a week past Labor Day–a sure sign, White House aides say, that the president intends to head for a goffcourse the minute his medically imposed six-month healing period is over and he gets a doctor’s OK. There’s no word yet on where the First Famfiy will be headed. Likely spots range from Martha’s Vineyard to Wyoming-or perhaps California, where Chelsea starts at Stanford in late September.
