Capel, 41, has been on coach Mike Krzyzewski’s staff since 2011 after the former Blue Devils player was fired for going 83-69 in five seasons as Oklahoma’s coach. The highlight of his Sooners tenure was reaching the Elite Eight in 2009 with Blake Griffin leading the way. Capel was 79-41 in four seasons as VCU’s head coach before taking the Oklahoma job.

Larranaga, 40, is the son of Miami (Fla.) coach Jim Larranaga and has been with the Celtics since 2012. He has interviewed for head-coaching jobs in the NBA — including the Celtics position that went to former Butler coach Brad Stevens, and the 76ers job — but has passed on at least one opportunity to interview for a college head-coaching job, according to MassLive.com.

Gregory was fired last week after going 67-86 mark in five seasons at Georgia Tech.
