Headgear: Helmets are not usually worn on Everest. It’s more important to keep the head warm.

Clothing: New fabrics protect climbers from the cold. Polypropylene inner liners move sweat away from skin. Medium layers add insulation, while a Gore-Tex outer layer offers protection from the elements.

Glassses: Ultraviolet lenses protect against snow blindness.

Plastic boots: With inner liner keep feet warm.

Gaiters: Cover entire boot and prevent snow from getting in.
