Jamie McMurray (201.954 mph) and Kyle Larson (201.889) led the 45-minute practice session for the Coke Zero 400.
Another practice was scheduled for 6:30 to 8 p.m. ET, but severe weather wiped out the session. The threat of storms created a somewhat frantic 45-minute session that will determine the starting order if qualifying is rained out Friday.
Following Larson and McMurray were six other drivers who eclipsed 201 mph — Clint Bowyer, Brad Keselowski, Jeff Gordon, Joey Logano, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Greg Biffle.
Landon Cassill and Martin Truex Jr. rounded out the top 10.
Austin Dillon, pole-sitter for the 2014 Daytona 500, was 14th, followed by Danica Patrick, the pole-sitter for the 2013 Daytona 500. Dale Earnhardt Jr., the 2014 Daytona 500 winner, was 32nd.
