This Is Us has received 39 Emmy nominations (of which it won four) in the past but this year it is only up for one award in the Original Music and Lyrics category.
The NBC drama, which starred Sterling K. Brown and Mandy Moore, came to an end earlier this year after its sixth season and many had tipped Moore, who played Rebecca Pearson, to be nominated. Viewers have also said that they believe Brown’s final episodes as Randall Pearson were Emmy-worthy.
While This Is Us viewers may be disappointed, Succession fans are celebrating the show’s incredible 25 nods following the live broadcast of this year’s nominations list on Tuesday, July 12.
Ted Lasso is up for 20 awards following its hugely successful run last year, while Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson has made history as the first Black woman to earn three nominations in the comedy categories in the same year.
Actress Sydney Sweeney has been celebrating after she scored two nominations: one for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Cassie in the HBO series, Euphoria and one for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for portraying Olivia in another HBO show, The White Lotus.
The 74th Emmy Awards will take place on Monday, September 12, at 8 p.m. EDT and for the first time the awards ceremony will be streamed live on Peacock.
