With breathless television crews in tow, Fujimori did his incongruous best to outdo Harrison Ford’s performance in “Air Force One” as an action-hero chief executive. The performance was a fiasco. That led some Peruvians to speculate–because Montesinos allies remain in crucial military posts–that the president is either unwilling or unable to touch the fugitive. As of last weekend, Fujimori still hadn’t gotten his man.
