During a match between the Young Bucks and Private Party, an errant Superkick to the Butcher and the Blade who were in the audience forced the duo to insert themselves into the match.

As Butcher and the Blade began to beat down Matt and Nick Jackson, Hardwood and Wheeler—who now go by FTR—arrived to AEW Dynamite in Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida in a pickup truck before they raced into the ring to help Matt and Nick Jackson.

Check out the video of FTR’s debut in All Elite Wrestling below.

The most interesting part of FTR’s debut is that after teaming up to dispatch of Butcher and the Blade, The Young Bucks and FTR stared each other down, but before Matt and Nick could thank them, the former WWE Tag Team Champions left the ring.

For years, FTR and The Young Bucks would express their desire to wrestle one another.

In a now-deleted tweet from 2018, Matt Jackson wrote, “One day The Young Bucks will wrestle The Revival and everyone will rejoice. Remember this tweet.”

Hardwood and Wheeler were released from WWE on April 10 almost a week before the massive company layoffs the promotion enacted in response to the COVID pandemic.

Earlier this month, Hardwood and Wheeler were guests on Chris Jericho’s podcast to talk about why they wanted a release from the WWE and it had a lot to do with how the promotion viewed tag teams.

“That was our biggest factor as far as leaving, was that tag team wrestling was featured everywhere else except for WWE. And we wanted to be a part of that because we could sit back and … we could have no legacy aside from our NXT stuff,” Hardwood told Jericho. “We could have no legacy in the history of wrestling, or we could go out and make history, and I think that was our biggest factor in leaving is that we could go out and prove to everyone that we are the absolute best tag team on this planet. And I say that with as much humility as I can muster from my guts. There is not a tag team on this planet that is as good as we are, that is as fluid as we are, and has the one goal, the one common goal in mind that is to be the best.”

With their debuts, Hardwood and Wheeler have their first piece of AEW merch already on sale.

All Elite Wrestling had their Double or Nothing pay-per-view on May 23, and the next big show is likely Fyter Fest in July or August. That’s likely when wrestling fans can see the Young Bucks and FTR get in the ring together.
