Next we went to the penguins’ sanctuary. I got a licorice log to keep me warm. The yellow-eyed penguin is one of the three rarest penguins in the world. The viewing points were highly camouflaged with brown and green and black netting. At first we could only see one in the ocean. Farther left there were seals kind of snorting to another one in the kelp. Finally the penguin got out of the water and we moved into the trenches. It was amazing. There were three-foot deep trenches with a lattice as a roof. It also had camo-netting. Thirty minutes later there was a mob of penguins eight feet away from us. Finally it got dark, so we went home and ate at a great Indian restaurant.
