“It’s incredible to hold this (trophy) and to think about Steve and his family and how much he meant to this community and everybody here at the race track,” Childers said after receiving the trophy. “For somebody to say anything like this to me is incredible, so I appreciate this and everybody at FOX … a great honor.”
According to FOX, the award will “celebrate an individual in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series who embodies principles Byrnes portrayed daily in his personal and professional life – preparation, teamwork and family within the garage area.”
Childers showed his appreciation for the award on Twitter Sunday.
