If you’re a regular gamer of Fortnite, you know just how important the Pump Shotgun was to the game. If you weren’t lucky enough to pick up the Legendary or Epic Heavy Shotgun then you likely settled on Uncommon or Rare Pump Shotgun. Or perhaps you’re one of the few who actually enjoys the Tactical Shotgun.

Either way, the Pump Shotgun was a huge part of the game and it’s now been vaulted with the arrival of Season 9.

Why did Fortnite get rid of the Pump Shotgun in Season 9?

Above is Epic Games’ official announcement and reasoning for vaulting the Pump Shotgun. 

The reasoning makes a lot of sense, when you think about it. Espeically the part where they point out “[the Pump Shotgun] currently account[s] for over 26% of eliminations in default playlists, with the next weapon type not even coming close.”

When a weapon becomes too powerful and overused like this, the game creators typically step in and make a change.

What is the Combat Shotgun in Fortnite?

Semi-Automatic Holds 10 Shells. Fires 9 pellets per shot for 73 / 77 / 81 base damage. Tight spread and fast fire rate. Headshot multiplier of 1. 70x. Reloads 2 shells at a time.

The Combat Shotgun is available in Rare, Epic and Legendary. It’s available from Floor, Chests, Supply Drops and Vending Machines.

Of course a big change like this to such a popular game can’t go unnoticed. Several of Fortnite’s top gamers paid tribute to the vaulted weapon, while some criticized the decision.
