The Ohio State Patrol said it had received calls about erratic driving. According to troopers, Clarett refused a breath test and consequently was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence in addition to a turn-signal violation.
He is scheduled to appear Thursday in Morrow County Court in Mount Gilead.
Clarett, a star on Ohio State’s 2002 national championship team, has experienced personal problems — including legal and substance-abuse issues — since leaving college after his freshman year.
Sentenced to prison in 2006 for robbery, among other charges, he has been a motivational speaker since his release from prison in 2010 in addition to running an industrial cleaning company. He was released from probation in February 2015.
