Best’s father is a native of the Caribbean nation, although Jahvid Best is not yet a citizen, the Detroit Free Press reported.

What are his chances? Newly signed Lions receiver Marvin Jones, also a Cal alum and whose sister Vanessa Jones is a U.S. track hopeful, says Best isn’t just blazing fast.

“He has Olympic speed,” said Marvin Jones, who called Best the most eye-opening burner he’s ever seen on a football field.

“When I first went [to Cal], I was saying, ‘This can’t be real,’" Jones said. “The way he moved and how fast he was, how he could shift and break on a dime and stuff like that, so he was one of the greatest players that I’ve ever seen physically.”

Best, 27, was released in 2013. He’s reportedly ran a 10.16 last month.
