During KU’s annual “Late Night In The Phog,” one male and one female fan are selected to make a half-court shot. If the shot is made, Kansas coach Bill Self writes a $10,000 check to the student.

The school decided to spice things up and allow the fans to select another person to take the shot for them (via the Kansas City Star), as long as that person was not a current Jayhawks player or recruit.

KU sophomore Jerod Martin Castro picked former Kansas player and current director of basketball operations Brennan Bechard to shoot for the money, and it paid off.

As promised, Self wrote Martin a $10,000 check.
