The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) identified the man as 32-year-old Tyree Conyers-Page, also known as Sir Maejor Page, in a news release detailing his arrest and charges against him. Page, who operates an Instagram page using his alias, “Sir Maejor,” often posts content related to social justice and the BLM movement. According to the FBI, he established a non-profit organization called “Black Lives Matter of Greater Atlanta” (BLMGA) in 2018, and opened a bank account under the same title....

Dylan Harrison was shot at about 1 a.m. outside the Alamo police station, and his alleged killer remains at large, said Natalie Ammons, Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) spokesperson, during a press conference Saturday afternoon. The part-time officer leaves behind a wife and six-month-old baby, Ammons said, adding that Harrison also served as a full-time Oconee Drug Task Force agent in Eastman, Georgia. His body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab Saturday for an autopsy, she said....

Countering guidelines included an announcement issued by Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp confirmed that statewide food service establishments are permitted to remain open in comments shared to Twitter on Friday. Kemp called Bottoms’ guidance — which called for Atlanta businesses to return to Phase I of the Georgia’s reopening plan — “both non-binding and legally unenforceable,” since the governor’s orders prevent local leaders from implementing regulations that depart from state requirements....

Georgia’s secretary of state issued a press release on Saturday evening touting “record breaking” early voting. Compared to the 2016 presidential election, early voter turnout had increased by 149 percent as of 9 p.m. on October 17. The southern state holds what it describes as the “gold standard” of early voting for three weeks prior to the general election, which will be held on November 3 this year. “Georgia is a leader in election access,” Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said in the press release....

While Germany’s COVID-19 vaccination rates are largely consistent with the European Union’s average—the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported about 66 percent of the bloc’s population is currently fully vaccinated—certain sections of the population have remained resistant to inoculation. The Associated Press reported that the ruling by U.S. District Judge Allison J. Nathan came after a series of evidentiary hearings in which Maxwell maintains that she has committed no crimes. Nathan said she allowed the use of pseudonyms due to the sensitivity of the trial’s subject matter. The judge explained that this step was made “to protect alleged victims from potential harassment from the media and others,” the judge explained....

Scotty David, referred to as Juror 50 in Judge Alison Nathan’s new ruling, said in interviews with multiple news outlets following the trial that he was a victim of sexual abuse, and reportedly told the other jurors that during deliberations, as well. “To be clear, the potential impropriety is not that someone with a history of sexual abuse may have served on the jury,” Nathan wrote. “Rather, it is the potential failure to respond truthfully to questions during the jury selection process that asked for that material information so that any potential bias could be explored....
